The Roots and Wings Institute for Embodied Wisdoms is the home of Black Light Research: a methodology for ritualized living and performance practice.
The Institute provides a suite of embodied practice for all ages--from therapeutic movement practices with an artful intent for somatic practitioners and pro dancers to trauma-informed creative movement classes for children.
Alanna leads somatic, embodied practice that uses contemporary and traditional dance/movement, somatics, breath-work, and postural restoration® (a discipline of physical therapy that focuses on correcting natural postural imbalances, or asymmetries, in the body), inside an equity-driven, liberatory praxis known as “Black Light Research.”
Adult movement practice is offered seasonally as revolutionary training through the Black Light Research curriculum.
Work with Alanna one-on-one within the praxis to develop a personalized, embodied wellness plan. Beneficial for people who navigate chronic pain / physical discomfort; for who wish to activate their joy; grieve and listen to your inner wisdom; make ancestral connections to elevate your bloodline; and reach your fitness goals with an artful intent.
Take a look around!
Individualized and tailored to your needs.
Supportive for persons living with chronic pain or physical discomfort.
Especially for those experiencing grief and loss.
After 6 sessions, you will leave with an integrative, supportive daily practice that you can tap into on a daily basis--activated through ritual, self and collective care, and ancestral wisdom. You will emerge with a deeper relationship to your body as home, to live a more integrated, sensual and harmonious life.
This is what I call "movement-as-life-practice."
