Alanna offers a one-on-one integrated, embodied practice that uses contemporary and traditional dance/movement, somatics, breath-work, and postural restoration® (a discipline of physical therapy that focuses on correcting natural postural imbalances, or asymmetries, in the body), inside an equity-driven, liberatory praxis known as “Black Light Research.” This practice is especially beneficial for people who navigate chronic pain / physical discomfort and grief; who wish to activate their joy; grieve and listen to their inner wisdom; make ancestral connections to elevate their bloodline; and reach their fitness goals with an artful intent.
Sessions are guided by Black Light Research: a methodology for ritualized living and performance practice , are typically done in a series of 6 and held at the Oshun Center for Intercultural Healing, located inside of the Family Tree Clinic at 1919 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis.
Oshun (Òṣun) is the divinity (aspect of divine nature) and anthropomorphized as sweet waters (rivers and streams). She is a warrior, a mother, a lover and a healer and represents love, beauty and divine feminine expression. It is under this healing energy of this African goddess that is reverenced in Yorùbáland (modern day southwest Nigeria, parts of Togo and Benin) and across the African diaspora (namely Cuba, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, New Orleans, and Haiti) that we do our work together!

Thank you for including me in your healing journey! Now let's get started!!
The video below is part of a 2 month residency of embodied practice for professional dancers. Pẹ̀lẹ́ is a Yorùbá word that can mean something like, “sorry” or “condolences” after experiencing an accident or a loss. More deeply, however, this phrase connotes a wish for someone to go easy and gently on themselves when experiencing discomfort or pain. I hope you can feel the depth of that gentleness in this 2 min excerpt.
Thank you for your interest in working with me!
